North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said unstable geopolitical situations surrounding his country mean now is the time to be more prepared than ever for war, as he inspected the country’s main military university, the news agency said. KCNA news this Wednesday (10) — already Thursday local time.

Kim gave field guidance at the Kim Jong Il Military and Political University, named after his father, who died in 2011 and which, according to KCNA, is the country’s “highest military education house.”

Kim said that if the enemy chooses military confrontation with North Korea, ‘North Korea will deal a mortal blow to the enemy without hesitation by mobilizing all means in its power.’

North Korea has stepped up its weapons development in recent years under Kim and forged closer military and political ties with Russia, reportedly aiding Moscow in its war against Ukraine in exchange for help with strategic military projects.
Kim told university staff and students, according to KCNA, that if the enemy chooses military confrontation with North Korea, “North Korea will deal a mortal blow to the enemy without hesitation by mobilizing all means in its power.”

Nuclear Weapons Program:

North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is one of its most prominent technological endeavors. Over the years, the regime has conducted several nuclear tests and missile launches, demonstrating advancements in both nuclear and missile technology. Kim Jong-un has continued to prioritize the development of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal, despite international condemnation and sanctions.

Military Modernization:

Kim Jong-un has overseen efforts to modernize North Korea’s military equipment and infrastructure. This includes the development and deployment of new weapons systems, such as advanced artillery, submarines, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The regime has also invested in improving its cyber and electronic warfare capabilities.

The North Korean regime tightly controls access to information and the internet within the country. While the internet is heavily restricted for the general population, the regime is believed to have a dedicated workforce engaged in cyber activities, including propaganda dissemination and surveillance of dissidents.

“Outlining the complicated international situation… and the uncertain and unstable political and military situation surrounding North Korea, he stated that now is the time to be more thoroughly prepared for war than ever before,” KCNA said.

North Korea has accused the United States and South Korea of provoking military tensions by conducting what it called “war maneuvers”, with the allies conducting military exercises of greater intensity and scale in recent months.
